The Responsible and Problem Gambling Program -Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB) of the Ministry of Attorney General delivers and supports an integrated network of treatment and support services throughout the Province. GPEB is responsible for the provision of problem gambling services through contracted professional counsellors. These barrier-free services are available free of charge to anyone who wishes to access them without waitlists. Treatment is provided at the client’s convenience, including on weekends or during the evening. Depending on the client’s needs, counselling over the telephone may also be provided, or depending on availability, the counsellor may travel to an appropriate location of the client’s choosing. Counselling services are delivered within the Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) model and produce outcomes that exceed international norms for treatment effectiveness. An intensive day treatment program called "Discovery" is also offered, which provides day/evening/weekend group workshops held in the Lower Mainland. A pilot to provide outreach support to individuals in their community was launched and will be expanded in spring 2018.
