School-based Programs & Resources

Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) offers a youth drama program for high school and secondary school students that uses young actors and age-appropriate language to deliver problem gambling prevention messages.

For college and university students, a problem gambling awareness program called kts2 (and its French version, mj2) is delivered by specially trained student staff. The program is designed to raise awareness of the real chances of winning and losing; highlight signs of problem gambling; share problem gambling services; and suggest ways to keep gambling safer.

The YMCA of Western Ontario’s Youth Gambling Awareness Program (YGAP) offers schools across the Province free interactive sessions for youth between the ages of 8 and 24. The sessions provide information about gambling (e.g., potential risks, consequences, probability); problem gambling (e.g., warning signs, harm reduction strategies, where to get help); and informed decision-making related to risk-taking behaviours.
