We record sales from casino gaming terminals (e.g. slot machines), video lottery terminals (vlts) and electronic bingo and ensure prizes are paid and the appropriate federal taxes remitted. Commissions are paid to retailers/operators. Licensed charitable and religious groups are paid a commission from casino gaming terminals operating during their licensed casino events. Charitable and religious groups also receive commission from electronic bingo and Keno operating during charitable fundraising events in licensed bingo facilities. All related AGLC operating costs are deducted and the income from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) for ticket lottery sales in Alberta is added. The net operating results from provincial gaming are transferred to the Alberta Lottery Fund.
Eligible charitable and religious groups that conduct charitable gaming activities (casinos, bingos, raffles and pull tickets) use the proceeds from these gaming activities for approved charitable or religious purposes. The groups pay private sector suppliers for the cost of products and services they obtain to hold their events. Other than fees for licences and trustee services for charitable proceeds from traditional casino events, the AGLC does not receive any revenue from charitable gaming.
