School-based Programs & Resources

The International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviours at McGill University offers information on youth gambling participation and youth gambling problems. Prevention resources for students were developed by the Centre which includes flyers, video and games. Clean Break, a docudrama designed to raise awareness of the consequences and potential dangers of excessive gambling. The film has an accompanying manual for counsellors who want to use the resource as a more in-depth prevention tool. Also available are the interactive CD-ROM games, The Amazing Château (for elementary school students) and Hooked City (for high school students); and a question-and-answer board game for teens in high school and treatment or rehabilitation centres called, Know Limits (Dés Joués).

La Maison Jean Lapointe, an addiction treatment Centre offers a problem gambling worshop called It's a matter of chance. It provides students and other groups information on gambling participation, risk behaviors and gambling problems.
