A. Background

The Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB) regulates all gaming in British Columbia, maintains the integrity of gaming industry companies, people and equipment, and ensures compliance with the policies and standards established under the Gaming Control Act. This includes regulatory oversight of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), all gaming service providers and gaming workers, British Columbia’s horse racing industry, and licensed gaming events. GPEB also delivers problem and responsible gambling programs.

Pursuant to Criminal Code of Canada amendments in 1969 and enabling legislation, BCLC was incorporated on October 25, 1984, and carries out its mandate under the provincial Gaming Control Act, Gaming Control Regulations, and Canada's Criminal Code.
